Psalm 103:21b “Bless the LORD, all you His angels, You who serve Him, doing His will.” (NASB)

The Psalms contain hidden gems of God’s truth and wisdom, and as we seek to find these treasures in the Psalms daily through this month, I believe the Lord would open our eyes to behold wondrous things from His law (Psalm 119:18).

In Psalm 103:20-21 David talks about the ministry of angels and how they heed the voice of God’s word. David then progresses to share with us a key characteristic of angels, that they serve God by doing His will.

In our reflection today, I would like us to meditate strongly on that phrase “SERVE GOD”. If we claim to serve God, the way we express our true service to God is not in carrying out a lot of religious activities without truly obeying God and doing His will. Our true service is in being yielded to and doing His will. The final utterance of the Lord Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane was the submission of His will to the will of God, the hallmark of his service. (Mark 14:36, Luke 22:42).

One of the things the bible pointed out about the religious Jews was this, their mouth worshipped God but their hearts were far away. This was also the declared by Prophet Isaiah. Inspite of all their religious sacrifices and activities, they were not yielded to the Lord (Isaiah 29:13; Ezekiel 33:31; Matthew 15:7–9)

In the Psalms today, we learn this “we serve God by doing His will”.
