Psalm 3:8 ‘From the Lord comes deliverance. May your blessing be on your people”.

In the third Chapter of Psalms, David narrated the tremendous afflictions he was going through and one of the things David pointed out was the fact that many were saying there was no deliverance for him (Psalm 3:2). In spite of these sayings, David boldly declared that he would not be afraid of tens of thousands of people who set themselves against him.

James Boice in his commentary on this verse says “David’s situation was so bad that many felt he was beyond God’s help. Those who said this probably didn’t feel that God was unable to help David; they probably felt that God was unwilling to help him”.

Thank God for David’s conclusion. Amidst all these opposition, David recognized and acknowledged God as the source of his deliverance. Some bible versions use the word “salvation” in place of deliverance.

Today, many people look to their financial resources, friends, family and other humans to help them. We must realize that the help of man is vain (Psalm 60:11). True deliverance comes from God. God chooses to use any man, and whatever the case may be, your eyes must stay fixed on where true deliverance comes from, it comes from God.

No matter what the circumstance is today, and even if like David many voices are telling you that God will not come through for you, speak back, stand firm and refuse to fear, for deliverance is from the Lord. The Lord is not only able to deliver you, He is also willing to do so. (Mathew 8:1-3)

In the Psalms today, we learn this “God is willing and able to deliver us”.
