God has ordained that life is based on certain principles and these principles are consistent throughout the bible. Therefore, wisdom demands that I understand how certain things run, for example, there is the power of choice in shaping the direction of my life.
In Deuteronomy 30:19, God gave the people of Israel the charge to make a choice. You have these same choices; however, you must not underestimate the power of your choices in the outcome of your life: what you choose to speak, believe in, expect, and the relationships you surround yourself with.
Many people blame God for the outcomes of their lives and do not want to take responsibility for their choices. Realise that your choices affect the people connected to you – for example, when a father makes a choice, it impacts the entire family.
In Genesis 2:15, God gave Adam the task of managing the garden of Eden: so, God has also given to each human something to do. He has put a job, talents, ideas, etc in your life that you ought to cultivate. You must avoid trying to become like other people when God has called you to be unique.
Things to note.
1. Identify your field: Identify the things that God has given to you to do and focus on cultivating it. Clarity will bring mastery.
2. Understand the season of life that you are in:
a. there are some things that if you start now will stop you from growing.
b. there are things that if you start now will give you a headway in the future.
c. a lack of understanding of your current season will lead to undue comparison. However, everyone is at different seasons at any given point in time.
d. your current season will determine the way your approach to life.
You must never blame anyone else for the outcome of your life: Assume Responsibility
3. The little things that make a world of difference. In proverbs 24:30-34, we see:
a. A man had a field, but was lazy
b. The man lacked sense to cultivate the field before him
c. The state of the field reflected who the man was: the field had potential to do what any other field could do, but the man lacked the wisdom to produce from it.
d. A little sleep and a little folding of the hand will lead to poverty: hence rest is great only after you have worked.
We see that God rested only after He had completed His work.
Little things make a huge difference: avoid procrastination as it has cost people more than they imagine, it has cost people their future. It is the value you put in your life that will ultimately affect your field. From Proverbs 6:6-10, we see that the ability to be productive without supervision is one of the greatest disciplines in life.
4. Proverbs 12: 11 and 28:19 say that if you work your land, you will have plenty bread therefore:
a. Be hardworking: work your field. Do not fix other people’s lives when your life needs repair (Songs of Solomon 1:6). The principle of growth is to look at yourself first.
b. Ensure you are not pursuing worthless things.
Find your field, give your time to it and create your future.
