When you are called into the ministry it is crucial to listen to advise and instructions. The Scriptures say, “In the multitude of counsel there is safety” (Proverbs 11:14), but even the most important counsel must align with God’s plan and purpose for your life.

We have a case in the Old Testament where a young prophet was misled by an old prophet and that led to his early demise. In 1 Kings 13:26, It is interesting that the Prophet said “It is the man of God, who disobeyed the command of the LORD;” he did not say this is the man who listened to me and died because of that.

I have seen itinerary preachers who stopped travelling because someone said, “focus on your job” and they interpreted that to mean stay in one place.
I have seen Evangelists who planted churches because they heard “you must have a base” and now they are struggling to Pastor.
I know people who should have gone full-time but are still struggling with bi-vocational calls and vice versa.

At the end of the day, you will stand before God and give an account of your call. Every advice must line up with God’s plans and purpose for your life.
